Do you remember our “Sponsor Our Seascape” campaign?

The Sponsor Our Seascape campaign was a local community fundraising initiative to sponsor a sea creature and have a dedication to an individual, family or groups who have supported the redevelopment of our new facilities by sponsoring a sea creature.

John Gurr Chair of MACEL Said “Today we welcomed back our previous Chairs, Kim Ritchie and Sue Hillman to unveil our new seascape wall.  The initial idea and design concept was the brainchild of Mary Stewart our project officer and the stunning final design and artwork was created by our very own artist and shift supervisor, Laura Clark.” Local firm, PPD cut and etched the brushed steel.

Mary Stewart said “This SOS was run alongside Local Business sponsorship and raised an amazing total of £60k for items in our new café, changing village and soft play.”

Kim Ritchie, said: “It is so exciting to see the project that past and present members of MACEL have been working on for so many years coming to fruition. Everyone at MACPool has worked really hard to deliver this excellent new facility for our community.”

Fiona MacAlpine says “We would like to thank the community once again for their continued support, and if you have sponsored a sea creature please come and see your name on the wall, we also have a number of anonymous donors and we have recognised them by the way of blank sea creatures. We have had a great start since reopening, the pool it has never been so busy, and the soft play and café are also proving to be very popular.“

We plan to have an official opening later in August to officially launch the new facilities as a thank you to the organisations that have funded the MACPool Redevelopment Project. The National Lottery Community Fund, Scottish Government Regeneration Capital Grant Fund – Argyll and Bute Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Sport Scotland, The Robertson Trust, Foundation Scotland – Ventient A’Chruach Community Fund, EB Scotland, Viridor Credits, CRF Hydro, Co-op Local Community Fund, Hugh Fraser Foundation, Tarbert and Skipness Community Trust benefit scheme and many local businesses.
