Swimming at MACPool is safer than ever, thanks to our new automated external defibrillator. All of our lifeguards have been trained on how to use the equipment, which can help save the life of a person having a heart attack.

The British Heart Foundation and the Scottish Fire Service provided the funding for the machine and training was provided by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“We have 32,000 visitors through our doors every year and we want to make it as safe for them as possible” says pool manager Stuart Owen. “All our lifeguards are already trained first aiders. Now if we have a customer experienceing a heart attack, we have the equipment to help save a life.”
